2009
I have recently been "reconstructing" some of my analog work (colored pencil, oil and acylic) by digitally manipulating the images to create dream collages. Some of the images were created especially for the collages, some are purely digital, others are from digitized work that has spanned the last decade.

This work originated from a need to "capture" recurring dream images that I initally found disturbing, if not nightmarish. I felt that confronting the images by recreating them would allow me to face my fears. The transient quality of subconscious dream images are surprisingly difficult to commit to any physical medium. I also found that once I decided to "look" for these images, the frequency of the dreams diminished.

This work explores the connection between the conscious and the dream world. Symbolism, fears and the fragmented quality of dreams are all themes examined here.
